Action! No More People to Prison on Crimeless Parole Violations

This last year in Hennepin county, about 450 people were sent to prison for technical violations of their parole. That means for non-crimes like being late for a curfew, missing an appointment. This policy separates families, ruins lives, costs taxpayers $41,366 per person per year and further overcrowds MN's prisons.

Join Twin Cities Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee, Decarcerate MN Coalition and others to demand an end to this practice and that those imprisoned for these reasons be released home for the Holidays.

Here's what you can do to help:

1. Attend the Mpls County Commissioners meeting this Tuesday (12/11) at 1-3pm at Hennepin County Government Center, 300 6th St S - Side A, 24th Floor. For more details see the Facebook event page.

To watch really informative footage of testifiers on this subject at the last County Commissioners meeting, watch the first 20 minutes of this video.

2. Can't make the event and live in Hennepin county? Write or call your commissioner and urge them to stop this policy. For details see here.

3. Sign the following statement by the Decarcerate MN Coalition here (link to

WMM is a partner in the Decriminalizing Communities Coalition (DCC) Twin Cities Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee is also a partner to DCC and is the host of  the Decarcerate MN Coalition.
