Time to Act May 4: Send email, make calls before May 6 - all details provided

Thanks to everyone who attended the Time to Act session tonight. With just 2 weeks to go until the end of the session, the big omnibus funding bills are being negotiated between the House and Senate in conference committees, and it is even more important for us to be in touch with legislators. This week, we sent emails to key legislators about 6 omnibus bills; we invite others to do the same before May 6 for greatest impact.

Each link below includes everything you need to take action: info on the bill, who to contact and a script you can use or modify to help legislators understand what you want. (You can get more background information on the 5 Actions that follow here.)

  1. Oppose Senate Education Omnibus bill

  2. Keep Police Accountability measures in the Public Safety Omnibus by adding provisions from House version

  3. Promote Pro-Democracy/Voting Rights Action by supporting specific House provision and opposing specific Senate provisions in State Gov omnibus bill

  4. Promote House Environmental Omnibus Bills

  5. Bonus: Support the Center for the Book (part of Legacy Bill; thanks to Friends for MN Center for the Book)

Remember, be friendly but these legislators work for us. It’s our duty to tell them what we want. Legislators respond to personal stories, so if you have one, please share it.

We plan to meet again in two weeks; we’ll send out more info on that soon!
