EVENT Aug 27: A Tribute to Shania Twain at Turf Club proceeds to go to Women’s March MN
An invitation to all to join us on August 27 at the Turf Club for the second (almost annual) A Tribute to Shania Twain show. We’re going to have fun, spread some joy, lift up women – all while singing along to some of Minnesota’s hottest women artists. And big thanks to the hosts A Little Too Short to be Stormtroopers Band and First Avenue for donating $1 from every ticket sold to the Women’s March MN.
Some folks will remember a similarly themed Dolly Parton show in January 2020; well the team is back together, led by Seth Duin, Kai Brewster and the A Little Too Short to be Stormtroopers Band. They do good works by hosting shows that lift up women and nonbinary performers that also donate proceeds to women’s groups, such as Women’s March Minnesota.
Seth talks about the community around the events, “You can't not smile when listening or playing the music of Shania Twain or Dolly Parton! It's all been so positive. And another fun result has been seeing such random groups of musicians come together for these sorts of collaborative shows and end up becoming creative partners and good friends down the line. A testament to the power of music forging new relationships.”
Mae Simpson – revving the crowd with her rocking almost bluesy voice and the enthusiasm.
Faith Boblett – bringing her Northern MN sense of humor and musical timing to the stage
Savannah Smith – plucky with or without the ukulele and a twice as sweet
Jaedyn James – sure to heat up the stage with her sultry sass
Diane (fka D Mills) – so versatile, I’m hoping a little for a Shania rap rendition, but I'm open
Laura Hugo – soft harmonies and maybe a little guitar and an easy elegance
Cecelia Erholtz (from TABAH) – love to see someone step out of a band, especially when I like the band
Leslie Vincent – I’m thinking old Hollywood glamour and a touch of jazz
Backed by A Little Too Short to be Stormtroopers Band, featuring members of General B and The Wiz, Ruben, The OK Factor, Theyself, Sleep Study and The Plott Hounds.
